Scaling a consulting firm is about balancing supply and demand
The year was 2016 when the founders of Operating, Lauri, Matti, and Mikko, first met at a digital consulting firm. After six successful years scaling the business to tens of millions in turnover, they had learned a key lesson. Scaling a consulting firm comes down to one thing: balancing supply and demand.
Yet, existing tools fall short. Complex PSA platforms are bloated, tedious to use, and lack AI capabilities. Companies who outgrow simple time tracking tools are left with suboptimal choices in the moment they need to step up their operations to the next level. This leaves people struggling with spreadsheets and disconnected systems.
Many tools try to be the CRM, the task management platform, and the work management platform at the same time. In reality, growing tech consulting firms need a very specific tool kit. A robust CRM, an issue tracking tool (Linear, Jira), an accounting platform, and a modern PSA platform. That last one is Operating.
We've built the PSA platform that lets you match supply with demand, handle project delivery, and month-end close on one platform. We leave the rest to other tools.
