Use Operating in Sana, or any agent that speaks MCP
Sana reaches Operating the same way every other assistant or agent does, through the Operating MCP server. There is no separate Sana build, and that is the useful part. Anything that supports the Model Context Protocol can read your resourcing, time and margin data without us shipping anything for it. People ask about availability, utilization or a project's margin in plain language, and act on the answer in the same conversation. What each person gets back depends on their own Operating account.

What to check before you connect an agent
Assistants differ in what they support, and those differences decide whether a connection will work at all. The checks are the same whichever assistant your company has settled on.
- Can it reach a remote MCP server over HTTP, rather than only running one on your own machine
- Does it sign in with OAuth, which is how each person authenticates against Operating
- Can it load the whole tool set from one server, or does it cap how many it takes
- Does an administrator have to approve a connector before your team can switch it on

Questions about connecting an AI assistant to Operating
Does Operating have a dedicated Sana integration?
No, and it does not need one. Sana connects through the Operating MCP server, the same server Claude, ChatGPT and the Gemini CLI use. Any assistant that supports a remote MCP server with OAuth sign-in can do the same.
What does an AI assistant need to support in order to connect to Operating?
It needs remote MCP support over HTTP, OAuth sign-in, and room to load the whole tool set from one server. Some assistants also require an administrator to approve a connector before anyone can enable it.
Does an AI assistant get its own account in the system it connects to?
Not with Operating. Each person signs in with their own account, so the assistant reads and writes exactly what that person could. Access can also be granted per user and individual tools disabled.
Can you stop an AI assistant from changing data while still letting it answer questions?
Yes. Switch off the writing tools for that user. The assistant keeps its read access and can no longer create or update anything.
Which AI assistants are known not to work with a remote MCP server?
Microsoft Copilot is the one Operating customers have not managed to connect. Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and the Gemini CLI all work today.
What is the alternative when an assistant cannot connect over MCP?
The Operating REST API. It covers about 55 resources with a bearer API key, and suits software you write and run yourself rather than a conversation.
